Alexis de Tocqueville and Today’s America

We hope you will come to the inaugural session of the Tunxis Humanities Athenaeum on Wednesday, April 28th at 1pm in Rm 201 where the topic under consideration will be:

Alexis de Tocqueville and Today’s America: A Talk on His Relevance to America’s Political Culture After 175 Years.

Panelists Bob Brown, Rafaele Fierro and Rachel Hyland will discuss a selection from de Tocqueville’s Democracy In America entitled “On the Use Which the Americans Make of Associations in Civil Life.”

The Tunxis Humanities Athenaeum is supported by a  Strategic Initiative grant with the aim of  establishing a monthly forum for all members of the Tunxis community to reflect on topics of interest in the humanities.  The theme for Fall 2010 will be civic engagement.
